Invasive Plant Workshop

WakeNature is planning a workshop on invasive plant management. The workshop will be free of charge and open to all Parks departments and conservation-orieneted, land management agencies in Wake County.

Location: Lake Raleigh Woods and Friday Institute for Educational Innovation, NC State University, RALEIGH Map to location

  • 9:45 - 10A -- Convene at north end of Friday Institute Parking lot (map) - this is co-located with Centennial Middle School - it is NOT the Friday Center in Chapel Hill.

  • 10A - noon -- Site visit in Lake Raleigh Woods
    • Japanese stilt grass (Microstegium vimineum) upland and bottomland occurrences
    • Chinese privet (Ligustrum sinense) infestations
    • Elaeagnus umbellata control experiments: chemical and mechanical treatments

  • noon - 1P -- Picnic lunch - please bring your own lunch. We will provide drinks

  • 1P - 4P -- Friday Institute Progress Energy Discovery Classroom
    • Introductions and logistics

Registration: There is no charge for the workshop. We will limit participation to 45 people.
