Agenda:
9:00AM-9:30AM - Check-in, coffee & bagels (sponsored by WRC), and networking
9:30AM-9:45AM – Workshop Welcome / Intro – outline the purpose of the day, frame the discussion for the day

Four, 20 minute presentations with 10 min for Q&A
9:45AM – 10:15AM Session 1: Lake Raleigh Management Plan (Gary Blank) – looking at terrain conditions for trail purposes, invasive species, streambank/floodplain challenges, downstream and upstream users/neighbors, etc.

10:25AM – 10:55AM Session 2: Stream restoration (Barbara Doll)

Rocky Branch Stream Restoration project – developed signs for education (Meghan will take photos)
  • Have photos on a slide show to have on display during networking

Topically focus on how to manage water – if not restoration with Doll then maybe think of other BMPs (i.e., rain gardens, green infrastructure)

11:05AM – 11:35AM Session 3: Beaver Management/Ecology (WRC Staff)

11:45AM - 12:15PM Session 4: Managing water levels for ecology and erosion (WRC Goudreau/Stancil)

12:15PM – 1:00PM Lunch On Your Own (more networking opportunities)

Afternoon Outdoor Sessions
Break into approx. 2 groups of 20 (depending on attendance)

1:00PM - 2:00PM Session 1
  • Southern group will be shuttled to Lake Raleigh Woods to view beaver lodge and discuss LRW management
  • Northern group will walk with Dr. Doll and Goodreau/Stancill from WRC to Lake Raleigh via the greenway and discuss stream restoration and water level management

2:00PM – 2:15PM Bathroom break for Southern group at new State View Hotel and drive to Lake Raleigh fishing pier

2:15PM – 2:45PM Dr. Hester to lead discussion about managing for wood ducks and prothonotary warblers at the group switch point (Lake Raleigh fishing pier) – both groups will be together at this point

2:45PM -3:00PM Northern group shuttle to bathroom break at new State View Hotel, then on to LRW

3:00PM – 4:00PM Session 2
  • Southern group will return up the greenway with Dr. Doll and Goodreau/Stancill from WRC to WRC building via the greenway and discuss stream restoration and water level management
  • Northern group will view beaver lodge and discuss LRW management and then be shuttled back to WRC
